Von der Leyen unpopular in Germany, unknown in France

A new survey by Brussels-based Politico has shown that in the three largest EU countries, citizens are critical of the work of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, if they even know who she is.

In Germany, where von der Leyen is a citizen, 26 percent of respondents rated her work as very poor, nearly 20 percent as somewhat poor, 30 percent as neither good nor bad, and 16 percent as somewhat good.

In France, about thirty percent think that von der Leyen is doing a poor or somewhat poor job, 35 percent neither good nor bad, and 22 percent said they had never heard of her. At the same time, ten percent consider her work somewhat good.

In Spain, ten percent of respondents had never heard of von der Leyen, nearly 30 percent think she is doing a poor or somewhat poor job, and 17 percent think she is doing a somewhat good job.

The survey was conducted between September 13 and 15 by Politico Poll and Public First, and included more than 2,000 respondents from each of the three countries.
