Montenegro will host the meeting of foreign ministers of the Berlin Process tomorrow, which will also be attended by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
Commissioner Kos will participate in the plenary session and panel discussions together with ministers from Western Balkan countries, EU member states participating in the Process, and the United Kingdom.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange views with Western Balkan ministers on the region’s progress towards EU integration. Discussions will also cover regional relations, joint security and resilience, as well as the implementation of the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, including progress in the gradual integration into the EU single market and the establishment of the Common Regional Market, as announced in Brussels.
Commissioner Kos will also join Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimović at the site of the former Morinj camp, where they will pay tribute to Croatian prisoners of war, emphasizing the importance of remembrance and reconciliation in building a common European future.
The meeting is being held ahead of the visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Montenegro, as part of her annual tour of the Western Balkans.
The Berlin Process is a diplomatic initiative launched in 2014 by then German Chancellor Angela Merkel, with the aim of bringing the countries of the region closer to the European Union.
