The government of Luxembourg announced today that additional detection systems have been deployed to strengthen airspace surveillance, after Luxembourg airport temporarily suspended operations on Friday evening due to drone sightings, the British agency Reuters reported.
“To enhance the capacity for monitoring and analyzing airspace, additional detection systems have been deployed, including resources provided by foreign partners,” the government statement said.
These additional systems will further strengthen airspace surveillance and improve the assessment of the situation.
The government stated that on Saturday evening the police “received several reports regarding suspected drone presence in the national airspace,” but that after checks, none of the situations required operational intervention by the competent authorities.
Luxembourg authorities launched an investigation after air traffic was temporarily suspended on Friday evening due to visual sightings of “unidentified and unauthorized drones.”
