Russia used ballistic missiles, 44 cruise missiles, and 168 drones in attacks on Ukraine during the previous night, primarily targeting Kyiv and its surroundings, the Ukrainian military announced today on social media.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that it detected 36 H-101/Iskander-K/H-59 cruise missiles, eight Kalibr cruise missiles, two combined S-8000 Banderolj drone and cruise missile systems, and 168 drones.
It was added that the main target was the Kyiv area, where at least 13 people were killed.
The Ukrainian Air Force announced on Wednesday that it would stop publishing detailed data on Russian ballistic missile attacks, at a time when Russia is intensifying its attacks with weapons that Ukraine is finding increasingly difficult to intercept.
Although the number of ballistic missiles launched last night is unknown, the military reports that Oniks, Zircon, and Iskander-M missiles, which followed a ballistic trajectory, were detected.
Ballistic missiles travel at high speeds on steep trajectories, making them much harder to intercept than cruise missiles or drones.
Only advanced systems, especially U.S.-made Patriot missiles, can shoot them down.
