The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that threats and calls from Russia for foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv will not force Poland to evacuate its diplomats, as this is just another attempt by Russia to intimidate Europe and weaken European support for Ukraine.
“New Russian threats and calls for diplomats to leave Kyiv show that the Kremlin is trying to intimidate Europe and weaken our support for Ukraine. Such activities, which are not in accordance with international law, will not bring about the desired consequences,” the Polish MFA said today.
Polish diplomacy stated that Russia will not succeed in breaking Ukraine nor in undermining European solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and that official Warsaw does not foresee any changes in the functioning of the embassy in Kyiv.
“We will continue to respond decisively to Russia’s irresponsible and dangerous actions and, together with our allies, we will increase pressure on the Kremlin,” the Polish MFA statement said.
