President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen today described as „barbaric“ the Russian attacks that took place last night in Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 17 people were killed in the wider Kyiv area during these Russian attacks.
„Once again, we wake up to news of horrific crimes committed by Russia in its air attack on Ukraine,“ von der Leyen wrote on the social network X, pointing out that „Russia must pay for the destruction it has caused.“
She said that the European Union is using revenue from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine and announced that 1.4 billion euros from these funds will be made available to Ukraine to strengthen its resistance to the „illegal Russian war.“
