An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 struck the area near Naples in southern Italy last night, causing power outages, damage to some buildings, and disruptions to rail and metro services, authorities reported.
The tremor, recorded at 19:46 last night, had its epicenter in the Campi Flegrei area west of Naples at a depth of three kilometers, according to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

The Italian fire service stated that there were reports of minor damage to buildings in Naples and the surrounding area, but that they had not received any requests for assistance.
Local rail and metro services were suspended as a precaution, local officials said.
