Former Israeli Officials Urge Trump to Intervene Over Settler Violence in the West Bank

Several hundred former senior officials of the Israeli military, police, the Shin Bet security service, and the Mossad intelligence agency have appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to put pressure on the official Jerusalem over the increasing violence by settlers in the West Bank, reports The Times of Israel.

In a letter addressed to Trump, the movement „Commanders for Israel’s Security“ warns of the possibility of major escalation due to the rise in Jewish terror, along with the weakening of the Palestinian Authority.

About 600 former commanders and officials signed the letter, warning that the growing violence „threatens Israeli security, U.S. interests, and regional stability,“ and telling Trump that it needs to be stopped quickly and decisively.

„It is our professional assessment that no one but you, Mr. President, can prevent this disaster. Therefore, we sincerely hope that you will use your upcoming meeting with our prime minister to convey a firm and clear message in this regard,“ the movement’s letter states.

They state that „the consequences could be even more catastrophic“ than the incursion by the militant Hamas movement into Israel on October 7, 2023, and its aftermath.

„This would rule out any possibility of continuing with your 20-point Plan for Gaza and your admirable ambition to expand your great achievement—the Abraham Accords—risking that the signatories might withdraw from it,“ Commanders for Israel’s Security wrote in the letter.
