Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Borjana Krišto met today in Sarajevo with the European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, whom she informed about the progress BiH has made on its European path since Kallas’s last visit to BiH in April of last year.
„With political will and responsibility from all officials, a few more steps are needed to officially begin negotiations with the EU,“ Krišto assessed, according to a statement from the Council of Ministers of BiH.
The meeting also addressed other current issues that will contribute to the functionality and stability of BiH, as well as the role of the international community.
„Just as BiH is based on the consensus of its three constituent peoples and the achievement of sustainable agreements, such an approach from our international partners is also needed in our country,“ Krišto stated.
At the meeting, it was further assessed that the enlargement process is one of the most important segments of the EU’s overall policies, which also guarantees that BiH, through reforms and integration processes, can succeed in reaching the standards of EU member states.
„It was concluded at the meeting that we will continue ongoing communication in order to make the necessary progress and do everything to bring BiH closer to full membership,“ Krišto emphasized.
Kallas is on a two-day visit to BiH and will also visit the EUFOR base in Butmir near Sarajevo today.
