New attacks by the United States (US) and Iran are further complicating already tense negotiations to end the war, said today the European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
Kaja Kallas described the Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait as unacceptable on the social network X.
She said that on Monday, the foreign ministers of the 27 EU member states will meet with their counterparts from the Gulf to discuss how to preserve freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.
US President Donald Trump stated today in Ankara that the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran is finished, but added that he will allow negotiations to continue.
„For me, I think it’s over,“ Trump said on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, where journalists asked him about the status of the ceasefire.
Trump said that „it is a waste of time to negotiate with Iranians who are liars.“
The United States (US) struck more than 80 targets in Iran in response to Iranian attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which triggered this morning’s attacks by Tehran on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
