Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that he spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who made an unannounced visit to Kyiv, about a new support package and cooperation between the two countries.
Zelensky stated in a post on X that he had a “very productive meeting” with Merz.
He mentioned a “new comprehensive support package for Ukraine worth 1.3 billion euros,” which includes weapons and assistance for the energy sector.
The leaders also discussed air defense, it was added.
“To date, we have 15 agreements and documents, most of them related to security cooperation, production, relevant procurements, our orders to German industry, and joint projects in Ukraine,” worth more than 8.5 billion euros, Zelensky added.
He also added that he signed a special agreement with Merz on countering drones.
