Đurić in New York held talks with the British Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pirs

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met in New York, during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, with the British Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pirs, to discuss bilateral relations, current topics, and opportunities for further enhancement of regional cooperation.

Đurić stated that Serbia remains open to new phases of bilateral cooperation that will follow, according to a statement from his office.

He also emphasized that Serbia continues to be firmly committed to preserving peace and stability in the region.

He also held a separate meeting in New York with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan.

Speaking about economic relations, Đurić expressed Serbia’s readiness to intensify economic and investment cooperation and to define specific areas where there are real opportunities for new projects and investments.

He particularly highlighted the importance of Singapore’s experience in innovation and cyber security, assessing that these areas represent opportunities for concrete cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience between the two countries.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, participated in a meeting dedicated to regional cooperation, which was organized on the sidelines of the session in New York by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Oana Coju.

The meeting was attended by participants of the Central European Initiative (CEI), currently chaired by Romania, and the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), chaired by Bulgaria.

Opinions were exchanged on the role of regional formats in the current geopolitical context, with particular emphasis on strengthening connectivity, stability, and the resilience of societies.

In her address, Jovanović emphasized that Serbia attaches importance to constructive participation in regional initiatives, as important instruments for building trust and achieving tangible benefits for citizens.

She stressed that Serbia, despite all challenges, remains firmly committed to preserving peace and stability, strengthening cooperation, and creating conditions for a connected and prosperous region oriented towards the future.
