On the occasion of Independence Day, the President of the European Council, the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Luxembourg, the Presidents of Moldova and Estonia, as well as other officials, have arrived in Ukraine, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha reported today.
Sybiha wrote today on the social network X that he welcomed Ukraine’s allies at Kyiv railway station, who are joining in the celebration of 35 years since Ukraine regained its independence.
He welcomed the President of the European Council António Costa, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, and President of Estonia Alar Karis.
„For Ukraine, independence is not an abstract idea. We defend it at all costs. In times like these, nations learn how important it is to have allies by their side,“ Sybiha wrote on X.
He added that Ukraine knows today who its true friends are and expressed gratitude to all partners who have stood by Ukraine, strengthened its ability to defend itself, and helped it preserve the freedom that, as he said, they fought so hard to regain.
„Your support is our strength,“ Sybiha wrote.
Congratulations to Ukraine on Independence Day are coming from various institutions and countries, including congratulations from the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, the EU’s foreign policy service, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, and others.
