The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved an emergency disbursement of about $690 million (600 million euros) to Ukraine as part of its lending program to the country, which is at war with Russia.
This new tranche will bring the current level of IMF disbursements to Kyiv to $2.2 billion (1.9 billion euros), out of a total financing agreement of $8.1 billion (7.1 billion euros).
This comes after a review of the program, which expects Ukraine to maintain its economic stability and implement several reforms, particularly in the areas of corruption, taxation, and currency.
„Ukraine has maintained macroeconomic and financial stability despite the ongoing war with Russia, a more challenging external environment, and exceptionally high remaining risks,“ the IMF statement said, adding that the program’s results so far have been „broadly satisfactory.“
