Đilas began his address with a direct message to Dušan Petrović, whom he called “the real owner of the Democratic Party,” and Srđan Milivojević, whom he described as “the formal president of the party.”
“Srđan Milivojević, the formal president of the party to whom the Freedom and Justice Party gave a mandate because your own people apparently assessed you as a political dilettante who embarrasses them,” Đilas stated.
He emphasized that the SSP had for months avoided responding to attacks from the Democratic Party, but that the latest video prompted an open reaction.
“For months we have remained silent in the face of your attacks and insults. But today you have crossed every line by releasing a video against the SSP and European Serbia, a video in which you accuse us of driving children out of the country,” Đilas said.
“You have latched onto the students like ticks”
Đilas leveled particularly harsh accusations regarding the Democratic Party’s relationship with the student movement, claiming that the DS is trying to gain political advantage through the Student List.
“Unlike you, who have latched onto the students like ticks, pushing your members—even from the party’s Political Council—onto the Student List and now waiting for a chance to get a parliamentary group, we have not hidden behind anyone,” said the SSP president.
Đilas stressed that his party presented itself to the public openly, with a clear policy and European orientation.
“You offered students logistics you do not have, because you lack both party infrastructure and committees. We, unlike you, came before the citizens with our names, our policy, and a clear commitment to a European future for Serbia.”
“Instead of fighting Vučić, you waged war against us”
The SSP president accused the Democratic Party leadership of identifying the SSP as their main political opponent during the campaign, instead of the current government.
“You, however, saw us as your greatest enemy. Throughout the entire campaign, you spent your time, energy, and resources waging war against us instead of fighting the regime of Aleksandar Vučić,” Đilas emphasized.
He also assessed that the Democratic Party and political actors gathered around Boža Prelević have, through their actions, harmed the student movement.
“We believe that it is precisely you, together with your newly arrived allies from Boža Prelević’s group, who have inflicted enormous political damage on the students.”
Đilas announces legal action
Speaking about the Democratic Party’s video, Đilas stated that its publication crossed the boundaries of acceptable political communication.
“With today’s video, you have crossed even the last boundary of political and human decency.”
He then delivered a harsh assessment of the Democratic Party’s political conduct.
“You no longer represent a civic political option. You have become a political creation based on pathological hatred toward those who do not suit you and whom you believe, if removed, will finally allow you to reach at least 0.5% support among the people.”
Đilas also announced legal steps due to the claims made in the video.
“Because of the falsehoods and accusations made in this video, we will initiate appropriate legal proceedings against you,” he said.
“From fighters against radical politics, you have become its most faithful copy”
In the conclusion of his address, Đilas accused the Democratic Party leadership of adopting a style of political confrontation characteristic of the radical political school.
“And finally, pitiful is anyone who entrusts you with their political future. You have shown that in terms of primitiveness, insults, and the way you deal with political opponents, you stand shoulder to shoulder with the worst representatives of the radical political school. This, after all, you demonstrate daily on social networks.”
Đilas concluded his address to Petrović and Milivojević with the message:
“From a party that once fought against radical politics, you have become its most faithful copy. Be ashamed, if you still have any decency left.”
