A data processing center belonging to the Russian social network VKontakte was hit overnight between Saturday and Sunday near Saint Petersburg, the Ukrainian military unit responsible for unmanned aerial vehicles announced today.
The facility, which houses one of the technological centers of this social network, suffered significant damage, and there were also serious disruptions in the operation of VKontakte’s services, cloud platforms, and infrastructure, the 412th Brigade for Unmanned Systems stated on Telegram.
“The technology company VK, which owns VKontakte, serves the Kremlin’s communication policy in the context of the war against Ukraine. Its resources are, among other things, used to support the needs of the military, law enforcement agencies, and the military-industrial complex,” the brigade added.
The company VK confirmed on Sunday that its data center in the Leningrad region was the target of a drone attack, but stated that the operation of its services was not disrupted.
