The director of the British MI5 service, Ken McCallum, stated that Iran is attempting to carry out attacks on military facilities in the United Kingdom and that the incident at the American Fairford base is not the only such case.
McCallum said that Tehran is seeking to intensify attacks in Britain and is targeting other sites, not just Iranians opposed to the Islamic authorities. As he noted, this includes “arson and sabotage directed at Jewish facilities, which Britain claims were carried out by individuals on the orders of the Iranian authorities.”
The MI5 Director added that “a significant change this year is represented by Iranian ambitions to attack better-protected targets, such as military facilities,” and emphasized that “the incident at Fairford base is not an isolated case. There have been other examples, not only in the United Kingdom but also around the world,” McCallum said.
