Rowan Atkinson is returning to the London stage with a new show, “Rowan Live,” in which his iconic characters Mr. Bean and Edmund Blackadder will appear; it has been announced that performances will run from February 8 to March 13, 2027, at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, with a total of 30 shows planned.
The show will combine characters from Atkinson’s career and new comedic scenes, and the actor will once again collaborate with writers Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, as well as composer Howard Goodall. The announcement was further supported by a video on social media in which Atkinson searches through old costumes of his characters.
In addition to Mr. Bean and Blackadder, the program will also feature Gerald the Gorilla, a character from the show “Not the Nine O’Clock News.” The project is described as a rare opportunity for audiences to see these characters live again, given that Blackadder was last performed live in 2012, and Mr. Bean last appeared on film in 2017.
