According to campaign finance data reported by Reuters, Elon Musk invested approximately $366 million in the 2026 election cycle, predominantly in support of Republican candidates and organizations.
It is stated that Musk allocated at least $276 million since July, placing him among the largest individual donors of this year’s elections. The largest single contribution, $158 million, was received by the Senate Leadership Fund, associated with Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
An additional $20 million was directed to the Congressional Leadership Fund, linked to House Speaker Mike Johnson, while Musk’s political organization America PAC received $76 million. It is also reported that $10 million was designated to support Republican Senate candidate in Texas, Ken Paxton, and $12 million was distributed to organizations supporting Republican governors and state attorneys general.
The ongoing involvement is causing political tensions: Democrats are announcing investigations that could affect Musk’s business interests, including SpaceX contracts and previous work in the Trump administration. The source also notes that the latest election forecasts still indicate uncertainty regarding control of Congress.
