Serbian News Media has introduced SNM AI, its own artificial intelligence-based system that brings a new way of using and understanding content published on our portal.
SNM AI is integrated directly into the news and allows registered users to, with a single click, receive a summary of the article, highlighted key information, a simpler explanation of complex topics, and also to ask questions about the news they are currently reading.
Instead of leaving SNM and searching for additional explanations on other services, the reader can now do everything directly alongside the original article.
The system currently offers four basic functions: Summary, which extracts the essence of the text in a few sentences; Key Points, which provides an overview of the most important facts; Eplain, intended for simpler understanding of more complex topics; and Ask, which allows the reader to ask a specific question related to the news.
A particularly important part of the system is precisely the ability to ask questions. If a reader wants further clarification of certain information in a longer or more complex text, they can ask SNM AI directly, without leaving the page they are reading.
SNM develops its own learning system
SNM AI is not conceived as a finished product that will remain unchanged.
The system is currently in a public testing phase, during which SNM will monitor its operation, the quality of responses, and the way readers use it.
In parallel, we are developing our own learning model and operating rules for the SNM AI system, tailored to the specifics of journalistic content, the Serbian language, and the way SNM publishes and structures information.
The goal is for the system to increasingly better understand the structure of SNM news over time, distinguish key from secondary information, explain complex topics more precisely, and provide higher quality answers to readers’ questions.
The long-term goal of SNM is the gradual improvement and independence of this system, along with the development of an ever-larger portion of its own AI infrastructure and technology tailored to the needs of our media.
Therefore, the capabilities of SNM AI will change and expand during the public testing phase, and experiences from its daily use will be used for further system development.
AI does not replace the journalist
SNM AI has been developed as an addition to journalistic content, not its replacement.
The original news remains authoritative. AI does not change the text published by the editorial team, but helps the reader to find, extract, and understand information from it more quickly.
Due to the nature of the technology, SNM AI can make mistakes, which is why it is clearly indicated within the system itself that the original news text is always authoritative.
The system is available to logged-in SNM users and represents another step in the development of user accounts and digital services of Serbian News Media.
You no longer have to just read the news. You can summarize it, highlight the most important points, request a simpler explanation, or ask a question about what you have just read.
This is SNM AI — today in public testing phase, and tomorrow an increasingly independent intelligent system of Serbian News Media.
