Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned the announced deal by U.S. President Donald Trump to purchase diesel from Russia, calling it a “gift” to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the BBC, Zelensky stated that the deal contributes to a war that must be ended, not prolonged.
Zelensky wrote on social media that Russia will respond with “further terror.”
“We count on the just support of America for our defense of lives and people in Ukraine – as well as on the U.S. to conduct an appropriately strong conversation with Russia. Strong, not weak,” he wrote.
Trump announced late last night on social media that he had reached the deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone conversation that was originally supposed to address a suspicious case of plague in Russia.
