Chicago this weekend (October 9–11) offers a range of events: fashion shows, Latin dance, wine tastings, a marathon, and family festivals spread across various locations in the city.
Chicago Fashion Week continues with runway shows and presentations by local creators, while the Chicago Latino Dance Festival concludes in Humboldt Park. The marathon will bring together runners and supporters along the city route.
The Lincoln Park Wine Fest is held at Jonquil Park (1001 W. Wrightwood Ave.) and offers tastings from local winemakers and food vendors; tickets are $30, with a VIP option costing $67.50. The festival runs Friday from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In Ravenswood, between the Begyle and Dovetail breweries, Oktoberfestiversary brings music on two stages, food, and children’s activities, with proceeds going to The Friendship Center. For contemporary dance enthusiasts, Visceral Dance Chicago performs the show “TAKE” at 3031 N. Rockwell St.; showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., with tickets at $45.
Family activities include the Autumn Kite Festival at Cricket Hill in Lincoln Park (Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., tickets $15) and the free Harvest Fest at South Chicago Farm (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) with apple tastings and a natural dye workshop. Independent publishing is represented by the Chicago Zine Fest at the Harold Washington Library from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the Lincoln Brunch Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offers food samples, music, and meetings with local authors.
Among the events are also free programs highlighted by Block Club Chicago, so a good outing doesn’t have to strain the budget.
