Student ultramarathoners have arrived in Luxembourg, where a welcoming ceremony was held in their honor. They departed from Saarbrücken at 6:30 a.m. and covered 93 kilometers to reach Luxembourg around 4 p.m.
The students were welcomed in Luxembourg by Mayor Lydie Polfer, who praised their courage and their fight against corruption.
“I would like to welcome you to Luxembourg. You are in one of the capitals of Europe. We admire your bravery and everything you are doing – standing up against corruption and fighting for transparency and justice. You are very welcome in our city,” said Luxembourg Mayor Lydie Polfer.
They were also addressed by Meris Sehovic, a member of Luxembourg’s Parliament who was born in Belgrade. He told them that their protest is a “democratic uprising” and that “it is time for politicians in Europe to hear you.”
“Europe is not a place you arrive at. Europe is a choice you make every day through hard work, determination, and unity. And all of you have made that choice. So keep pushing! Don’t stop – not just with your legs, but with your ideas! And with unity. Europe sees you, Serbia needs you, and we stand with you,” he said.
On Sunday, the students will begin the 16th leg of their journey, which is also the most difficult one – crossing the Ardennes to the Belgian city of Liège.
