The Kremlin announced today that measures are being taken to mitigate the consequences of Ukrainian attacks on Russian ports and ships in the Black Sea used for grain exports.
The exchange of attacks between Russia and Ukraine, both grain exporters, has closed export terminals and forced shippers to delay or cancel shipments at the peak of the season, reports the British agency Reuters.
„Measures have been determined and will be developed so that all grain intended for export will be delivered on time and in full,“ Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged last week that Russia is experiencing problems with the export of agricultural products, but said they would be resolved.
Putin estimated that Russia will have about 60 million tons of grain for export in the current season and promised that there will be no shortages on the world market.
