The U.S. State Department has announced that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru next week to „strengthen diplomatic ties, trade, and regional security,“ with drug trafficking suppression also mentioned.
On Tuesday, September 8, Rubio will meet with Colombian President Abelardo de la Esprilla to discuss aid following last month’s devastating earthquake in that country and cooperation in the fight against narcotics.
The following day, Wednesday, September 9, Rubio will meet with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to discuss joint operations against maritime drug smuggling cartels.
The final stop of Rubio’s brief tour is Peru, where on Thursday, September 10, he will meet with President Keiko Fujimori to discuss trade relations and regional stability, the State Department announced.
