Fire in Berlin High-Rise, at Least Five Injured

At least five people were injured in a fire that broke out this morning in a high-rise building in Berlin, according to German media reports. 

All residents of the building, which has 21 floors, were evacuated, the dpa agency reported, without specifying the condition of the injured.

A spokesperson for the fire department said the rescue operation was „dramatic.“ Some residents considered jumping out of windows to escape the flames.

The fire, which was brought under control after three hours and whose cause is unknown, broke out at 6:30 a.m. in an apartment on the 11th floor, in a neighborhood near the Ostbahnhof railway station.
