Telekom Srbija expects to receive a license to operate as a mobile operator in the US in mid-November, and plans to begin commercial operations in December, stated General Director Vladimir Lučić.
Lučić said that the service will be launched via the AT&T network and that the licensing procedure in the US took longer than planned.
He assessed that entering the American market is of great importance for the further development of the company, especially in the field of digital services and artificial intelligence, and stated that, with the markets of the US, Germany, and Turkey, Telekom could have access to a market of about 700 million inhabitants.
According to Lučić, the company sees particular potential in cooperation with major American technology players and in the development of services based on artificial intelligence. He also added that in recent years Telekom has been investing in startups through new technology funds, citing as examples a highly sensitive robotic arm and smart glasses.
