The authorities of Moldova today summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov for talks, following yet another incident of missiles and drones from neighboring Ukraine entering its airspace.
At the end of September, Chisinau reported an increase in drone incidents, which led to repeated closures of the country’s airspace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador, for the second time in several days, and requested that Moscow prevent such incidents, according to a statement shared on social media.
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, who advocates for European integration, stated that these incidents show that the war Russia is waging in Ukraine “is reaching Moldova as well.”
“Moscow is endangering lives across Europe and must be stopped,” she wrote on the X platform.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Moldova has recorded 81 violations of its airspace by the end of September, including missiles and drones of Russian and Iranian manufacture, 44 of which occurred this year.
