The United States carried out several waves of strikes on Iran this morning and during the previous night in response to the Iranian attack on a container transport ship, while Iran retaliated by attacking countries across the Middle East.
Iranian state media reported that several locations in Iran were attacked and that at least one person was killed, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced it had launched a new round of attacks across the Middle East.
The U.S. Central Command stated that today’s strikes hit dozens of targets in Iran, including air defense systems and radars, as well as missile and drone launch equipment and speedboats.
„The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade. Iran does not control it. U.S. forces are prepared to ensure freedom of navigation for commercial vessels despite Iran’s continued unjustified aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary statements,“ Central Command said.
Tehran yesterday attacked Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman.
The U.S. military announced on Sunday that it had struck around 140 targets, including rocket and drone launch sites, ammunition depots, communications equipment, and others.
Iran responded by attacking countries in the region where U.S. troops are stationed, insisting that it must control the strait itself and charge ships for passage through it.
The U.S. military and President Donald Trump claim that the strait is open, while Iranian authorities claim that ships cannot pass through.
Since the beginning of the war on February 28 and the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has been attacking ships in the Persian Gulf.
